About this Project
Underfoot Books
A label I created with the singular purpose of sharing my novel: Facing Home: A View From Abroad.
A.W. Moment
A pen name I developed from an anagram of my name to maintain a certain level of anonymity.
I am an American who has lived in Qatar for 15 years. I am the author of Facing Home: A View From Abroad.
My Book
This short novel is not a memoir, it is a work of literary fiction that parallels my own personal journey toward healing and acceptance while living in Qatar.
My intention is to provide my narrative for free, with the belief that those who read it will support my work enthusiastically.
Why my book is Free to Download
I thought about having it published traditionally, but discovered that I am a better writer than a pitchman. The best words to sell my book, I reason, are found within the text itself. I believe that after reading this book, many people will be willing to contribute to my project by sharing my book and making a small contribution.
In addition...
With the current situation surrounding me in Qatar, while I shelter in place (March, 2026) I believe that my story should be read widely to inspire meaningful dialogue.
